😶 It gets on my nerves if someone tries to book a full body massage session with me. As a matter of fact, physical therapy is nothing like a massage. If your experience with physical therapy is rubbing your back and scrapping your armpits, you might have been to the wrong place. Don’t get me wrong. I am not against my patients to have regular spa sessions but physical therapy is not 60 minutes of push and pulling your body to break up scar tissues and “stay home to rest”

🧠 Should we take our hands off then, regardless of what manual therapy can do, reduce the use of manual therapy or even abandon it? Manual therapy still plays a minimal role in my practice, but it should not be the all of it. Manual therapy gives a false image, that I hear most often from patients complained of not getting any better after receiving it, from what real physical therapy should look like

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♀️ “Rest” is an excuse from physios or physicians who knows jack shit about exercises. It sets forward a distraction from the main focus of adopting an active approach in physical therapy. A good physio understands with sympathy, treats with exercises, questions with wisdom

💥徒手治療不是物理治療
“什麼是物理治療”

😶「你好我想預約全身筋膜放鬆」每次聽到有人跟我說這個我便回答「按摩找隔壁,我做物理治療的」你的物理治療師,是不是只有幫你做徒手按摩,叫你回家休息,最後還是沒有好呢。那一位是按摩師傅,不是物理治療師,你也浪費錢了。我不反對病人去按摩放鬆,按摩能刺激大腦釋放腦內啡,讓身體放鬆,情緒變好。不過按摩並不是治療師的工作,只做徒手治療淪為徒手治療師,只會使得物理治療產業倒退

🧠 徒手治療當然還是有它的目的,我也還是在做,可是徒手治療並不是物理治療的全部。從問診、評估、適當的儀器應用、徒手治療,更重要的是治療性運動跟溝通衛教。溝通衛教,是了解病患的問題後,對日常生活,或運動課表作出調整;治療性運動,是分析動作的問題後,作合適的運動處方

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♀️「休息就好」並不會解決問題。就等於按摩後疼痛還是存在,便是尋求物理治療剖析評估身體哪裡出問題,透過適當的徒手及簡單的運動改善的時候。好的物理治療,不會說休息說好;好的物理治療,不會只做按摩放鬆;好的物理治療,是以同理心了解病人的問題,協助病人康復
